If ‘YES’ then a noise problem probably exists. Go to Stage 2. If ‘NO’ then make a record and abandon assessment.
Stage 2: Organise a noise level check by a competent person. If levels near or above the first action level are found then go to Q3. If not, then record levels, arrange to monitor frequently and abandon assessment. Q3 Identify all employees at risk and location/specific equipment/task: Do they have any “particular sensitivity to noise?” – i.e. family history, previous problems, current problems (use a monitoring form to find out) What is daily personal noise exposure (Lep,d) of those likely to be exposed at or above the first action level (calculated from levels of noise and exposure times)? YES / NO
