This is an essential requirement in areas where noise levels exceed the upper exposure action values (i.e. in designated Ear Protection Zones). Ensure personal hearing protection is properly maintained and report any suspected equipment deficiencies. Report to a responsible person any circumstances that might lead to increased noise levels due, for example, to changes of activity, introduction of new equipment or equipment defects. Absorption by use of porous materials that do not reflect sound Isolation by use of anti‐vibration mountings such as springs or rubber pads Silencing by use of baffles to reduce air turbulence Reducing the time for which people are exposed to the noise Avoiding the direct path of the noise Noise Assessment Form A Noise Assessment Form is attached to this manual as Appendix Two.
