ensure all the necessary equipment to allow safe access to, and egress from, the place of work is provided for the tasks being undertaken. ensure that suitable plant is provided to enable the materials used during the course of the work to be safely lifted to, and stored if necessary at, the workplace. consider the effect of weather conditions on the type of work being undertaken and ensure that adequate provisions are in place to temporarily cease work should the conditions require. If the job is temporarily halted, all work, plant and equipment will be left in such a condition that it is safe until such time as the conditions allow the job to continue. if work at height is carried out in poor lighting conditions (e.g. working at dusk, night or dawn), ensure sufficient local lighting is provided, so that work can be carried out safely and access and egress are easily visible. ensure the regular inspection of all equipment required for working at height is carried out, particularly where there is a statutory requirement to do so. ensure a competent person is responsible for the supervision of the erection, altering and dismantling of scaffolding and for the inspection of equipment used in work at height. shall provide any information, instruction and training that an employee may require to carry out his or her trade or skill in a safe manner when working at height. ensure that supervisors responsible for ancillary plant and equipment used for the work are suitably and adequately trained and capable of providing the correct information on its use. ensure all work areas are controlled and suitably cordoned off prior to the commencement of work so as to present no risk of injury to personnel who are in the vicinity.
